Yeah !! now they have a new argument to restore the multimillion dollar tax payer funded bonuses .These companies are not even ashamed that they are running on money from the American tax payers without which many would have had to sell their buildings now .
These super brains used their intellect for all the wrong reasons when they created the famous Collateral Debt Obligations ( CDO ) that even Alan Greenspan said he could not understand . These guys then loaned money all over the globe , without taking into account any risk factors . With little Government oversight in the US financial industry these people were ultimately responsible for the well being of world financial health .A little caution and responsible behavior from these people would have saved us from the catastrophical global recession that we are now . But nooo , they loaned money as if there was no tomorrow and got millions in bonuses for selling loans and securities to unsuspecting investors and the whole world is now bearing the brunt of their greed with more than half a million layoffs every month in US alone.
These people are ultimately responsible for the mess which the whole world is in and now their CEO's are saying that they need to retained with bonuses or we will see a Brain Drain .

I have been a contributing for a long time and i will do to do so , there are lot of people still struck in back log , who supported us from the beginning , and more over we are filing 485 ....we still have a long way to go remember..

Here's another parallel Idea.
Let us try to schedule a meet with the prospective presidential Candidates (McCain, Clinton and Obama) instead to let them know our issues.
By the time we actually get a meeting with the current president, his term may have expired. The presidential candidates, on the other hand will have some time now (not a whole lot but a little). If we squeeze some time there, we may be able to atleast get our issues out there.
we can do this to get the Dems attention to our problems...right now Obama and Clinton are campaining in PA..so the IV members who are from PA can try to meet them and explain our problems.. when they are out there for campaining..

Your parents should provide your address as the USA residence address while filling the form at port of entry. Sometimes the immigration officer at port of entry may call you to verify.

Hi Guys,
I just wanted to get some input from the veterans here who have started a business in partnership while they have been waiting for the coveted green card.
What kind of legal paperwork does it take to start a business? I would think as long as you don't work for the business it should be ok? If you can own part of a corporation (stocks), you can be a partner in a business?

I saw the news about the passage of the stimulus proposals in Senate. Already there is a debate about dissociating the clause of 'Buy American' from the Steel sector. President Obama has mentioned that he doesn't want to have protectionist approach in the Stimulus package. So, in my opinion the proposal of Senators Grassley and Sanders about recruiting American workers for TARP funded companies might not be implemented. I agree it is a case of having a positive expectation whereas the members are preparing to face a bad situation.

This exact same thing happened to my package sent via USPS, I sent overnight and it still took 2 days to finally get in a person's hand, it was still on time to not have any negative consequences, but lesson learned, don't rely on USPS/UPS and don't wait till end, atleast have 5 days for mail delievery. I had nasty chat with my attorney to send my papers before he was planning to send, I am even planning to report to 'statewide bar association'. Lawyers knows ( or must know ) the importance of timely filling and its effect on families and their lives.
Hope things go fine and they do accept the application.

Real estate investment right now is very good. Buy some foreclosures cheap (under 50k) then rent. Use the equity to buy more houses. Daisy chain rinse and repeat. Within a year especially with this economy you will be living the American Dream.

Yes, you're right, Berkeleybee, that no restriction on AC-21 job portability contradicts labor certification stage. But isn't it also true we can change our job to whatever we want once we get GC? Due to the false system, if we lost years waiting in line, why can't they change the rule to make up for it? I think it is a legitimate and justifiable demand.

But as I said before this is a demand that has no support amongst legislators. Their response is that they would rather do things that reduce the wait time -- and they are attempting to do that by increasing quotas and exemptions; by making DOL more accountable than they have been in the past.
What is in the current bill is as a result of long, protracted negotiations, many revisions, going back and forth explaining our problems. At this stage we don't see adding to the list as a possibility -- we have our work cut out preserving Title V provisions in the House-Senate conference committee.

Yes, you have to submit your papers at least 5 business days I think before your interview date. It is a requirement for the Mumbai consulate. Mumbai consulate is like my second home :(.

Hi, I am in the exact same situation. USCIS approved my H1B but didn't issue I-94. Along with the H1B approval letter there was explanation why they can't issue me 'H1B status' and also suggesting me to leave country and apply for H1B visa at the consulate using the approved petition.
I didn't leave the country as my lawyer suggested this is a matter of grey area and every thing rests on Immigration's officer's interpretation and judgement. Didn't want to take chance.
The solution? we filed 'nunc-pro-tunk' petition with the proof that it was a honest mistake on part of employer and I shouldn't be penalized for that. Now I am waiting for the USCIS decision.
I have an EAD and pending 485 so I am continuing to work. In your situation if you have 485 pending/EAD you shoud be OK.
