Such a pointless article with no insight. As far as the lack of buttons goes, the single button mouse has always annoyed me. Instead of just adding a right mouse button, they require a user to hold down a button on the keyboard and then click single mouse button. I also get annoyed with the missing backspace and backward delete key. Macs look nice and the OS is superior to Windows, but not Linux. At any rate, the fact remains that Apple products are over priced.

$179, including shipping.
Not bad, especially since you aren't shipping it off until your 3G is in your hand!

Well I was bored today so I decided to find a way to pull apart my no longer used Apple Pro Mouse; i cant leave things alone so I HAD to modify it. I installed a very high intensity Blue LED and a Blue Apple logo. What do you guys think? if there is demand, I took pictures when taking apart the mouse (without wrecking it) and would be happy to make tutorial on how to do this. :D

Hi, I just got a new iPhone. I'm very happy with the way I have my iPod/iTunes organized and would like to have iTunes sync with my iPod and iPhone so that all three mirror each other when I plug in each device. Ex: have all my playlists on my current iPod/iTunes transfer over to the iPhone, and when I download new songs and drag them to the appropriate playlist in iTunes, have the downloaded song transfer to both the iPhone and iPod when I sync.
I am very confused on how to achieve this. It seems like most threads I've researched discuss having separation between the devices. I'd like them to match. Any advice would be much appreciated!
And one more related question - yesterday I downloaded a song in iTunes from my iPhone. I tried to drag the song over to my iPod playlist in iTunes and it would not drag over. It is possible to download songs from iTunes on the iPhone and transfer them to the iPod, right? I'd like to know how to do this as well (again, I guess it would all be part of that "mirroring" process I described above). Thanks in advance...

I've got a number of perl programs I run fairly constantly. Right now I open up a tab in terminal and navigate to the directory and launch each one (one by one).
But ideally I'd love to setup up some sort of bash program or something that would launch the all the perl programs just by running that one bash program.
Is that possible? And is it possible to do that so it opens in tabs? (Or at the minimum new terminal windows?)
Thanks

Six months ago, Apple surpassed Microsoft (http://www.macrumors.com/2010/10/28/apple-tops-microsoft-in-third-quarter-revenue/) in quarterly revenue for the first time in nearly 15 years, marking a milestone on Apple's tremendous performance in recent years. But despite being passed by Apple in the revenue metric, Microsoft continued to hold off Apple in quarterly profits due to the high profit margins achievable with its software business.
That finally changed this past quarter, with Microsoft today announcing net profit of $5.23 billion for the first calendar quarter (third fiscal quarter) of 2011. Apple last week reported (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/04/20/apple-reports-best-non-holiday-quarter-ever-with-5-99-billion-profit-for-q2-2011/) profits of $5.99 billion over the same period, which corresponded to the company's second fiscal quarter of 2011.
Apple has passed its longtime rival Microsoft in a number of metrics over the past year, beginning with market capitalization (http://www.macrumors.com/2010/05/26/apple-passes-microsoft-to-become-second-largest-u-s-company-by-market-capitalization/) back in late May 2010. Apple's market cap is now nearly $100 billion higher than Microsoft's.

When I type in Safari or Atomic or even click links there is about a 1 second delay, which is huge. Is this happening to anyone else? It started a few weeks ago and the update didn't help.

Hey, just throwing this out there. I made a music video recently for one of my new songs. filmed with a Sony bloggie, edited with iMovie HD 6 on a MBA 11" and recorded with GarageBand 11.
"Her Name Here" from the album King Friday
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0XVmGzy54o
cheap plug: it's on iTunes too.
http://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/richy923/id301066330
I came from a video editing background with Sony Vegas on PC and when I made the switch to a Mac a few years back, I tried my hand with iMovie 08, hated it, and heard I'd like HD 6 better. It's a little bit of a learning curve, but it's an inexpensive way to get the job done if you have the patience. To this day I'll still use it to throw a project together, and this just goes to show it's still a good piece of software. I'm slowly on my way, learning FCP on my new MacBook Pro.

Congrats on the jump. Like you, my first computer was an IBM 8088. Been into computers since. Jumped back and forth over the years. Jumped back when OS X hit v3. After selling my Mac pro's, I bought a 2010 mini. Limited but still useful. Don't think you will have to much of a learning curve. Have fun.

I purchased this laptop March 16... it's been 1.5 months. I know Apple's policy for returns is long over, but I'm beginning to really feel this screen is unacceptable and unusable. Are there any suggestions for solutions to this? Should I even bother pleading my case to Apple for a return?
Now I'm looking at that MBA 13" with the higher resolution...

DO NOT BUY THE SONY.
I like you saw the features and got seduced. but the colour fringing was horrible, the pictures were just not there in comparison to my 400d(KIA). so i returned that and then later on paid the extra for a canon 600d.
its a hairline between canon and nikon. but the canons do better video.
the SLT is a toy - Canon had the same system 30 years ago and they didn't go down that road for a reason.
go for the nikon if thats what your heart tells you. but if your going to buy the sony, get it from the store, cause you will be taking it back.

Reminds me of a client who had this problem. Turned out he mixed up his PBs, and this ejection problem was happening to the PB that had a read-only DVD drive.
In other words, check out your System Profiler to confirm you can write DVDs.
