Reading through this thread, I was wondering how many people defending the iPad are actually aware of its inherent shortcomings for professional users , and have actually used programs like Photoshop .
The iPad was never meant to be used by professionals, it is not compatible with pro apps and devices on a basic level, like colour spaces, connectivity, file import/export, tethering, to name a few .
As it's been pointed out before, finger gestures are a crutch, not an enhancement, just like they were since the introduction of trackpads .
SJ called the iPad a post-PC computer - nothing could be further from the truth.
It might help to develop better input devices in the future, but right now Apple doesn't seem to be part of it, aiming their products at a retro oriented crowd which is merely asking for simplification, instead of progress.
Almost word-for-word, the exact same argument that was made by Luddites against these fancy, new-fangled mouse and GUI-based computers back in the mid-80s.

Somehow I get the feeling that poking that thing with a pin won't have the same effect as poking a regular frog with one.

We'll take them, at $10M per head (negotiable).
Our Inuit brothers, up in Nunavut, will look after them, and they can put the money to good use.

no worries fella, thanks for the link. I've actually found it with red pants so have stuck that on.
Will have a nose for the cart one though.
Ohh, my turn... do you have the link for the red pants one? haha

Torture is never justified under any circumstances and that includes sleep deprivation, ritual humiliation, or anything else that is euphemistically known as "Enhanced interrogation"
Fighting terrorists should be done no differently to fighting any other war (i.e. within the Geneva Convention).
How do we do that? They are a shadow organization bound by religious or political ideals with no true ties to any nation.
As a result there is no nation that we could go to war with or otherwise hold accountable for their actions.

I thought we were trying to give one of the new mods a chance to try out thread locking. :)
Don't be silly, we're all enjoying the nice things people are saying about us... ;) :D
Give it a week, if we're not the most hated members on the forum, we're probably not working hard enough. :D

You already have a few members in this thread who said they're not eligible.
A number of ineligible donors is not the same as a lack of eligible donors. That's basic logic.

I may be in the minority, but the rule around here is that you obey whoever pays the bills. That means that if you're still living under your parents' roof (or you're depending on them to pay the tuition, room, and board), then you live by their rules.
.
Same rule here, under a different saying - my way or the highway.

Lets face it, Mail on iphone blows when compared to blackberry. There is no security like blackberry has on top of the entirely inadequate mail program.
You can't search well beyond the most recent emails. on a blackberry you can search thousands of recent emails and it just works.
What does this have to do with the price of tea in China? This has nothing to do with TJ Maxx buying ipads. OH, and if you do not like the mail app on the iphone, or ipad, don't buy it, or don't use it. For me it works

Someone call the WAAAAA-Ambulance..... The emailer is most likely an early adopter who feels cheated... So is this guy going to write to Steve Jobs every time he finds an iPad on eBay for $100 less than retail? How about 1 auctions?
Hah.
It will be satisfying as an abused/ex- mac fan to see Steve's latest toy quaintly arranged on a folding table by a tired old woman -- right next to beard trimmers and wine-bottle sleeves.

Figured I would start this thread.
NYC - 23rd Street and Madison store (near Madison Square Park) - I went in at 10:00 AM and they were sold out. The manager said they received 5 iPhones.

$75 for a website template?? Doesn't sound like your charging nearly enough money. That should be closer to $400 IMO.
When I pay for logo design or a website, I pay by the job. I usually get a quote before we begin. I paid $100 for a logo design.
Sounds like you dealt with the situation very well!

I'm on iTunes 10.1.2 now. I have an iPad1 on 4.2.1 fw and jailbroken.
Tomorrow! I'm getting an iPad 2 on 4.3 fw which I assume requires iTunes 10.2.1.
Will iTunes 10.2.1 mess up my jailbroken iPad1?

Ok, so it seems the developer has kick up a bit of furore on this one.. ;)
Personally, I don't mind paying the 1.79 again to buy Tweetie 2 - at the end of the day it hardly breaks the bank. I'm not disgusted by it because he needs to keep making money somehow. (Although it looks like this developer may now be quite well off, judging by its ranking in the Top Grossing list ;))
But I do get this underwhelming feeling when I use Tweeite 2 - as it seems others do - and I think this stems from a few things:
1) In some ways, the new app is not 'better' than the first Tweetie - the UI is not so nice (an opinion), the speed is not so silky smooth (less of an opinion, bit more fact) and it doesn't even seem to do everything that Tweetie 1 did. In fact, I'm struggling to see - for my uses at least - what this version achieves that the first one didn't. And the implementation is not so nice either. What is the 'killer app' in version 2?
2) The idea that it was built from the ground up again. As the developer puts it - "I didn't just add a feature and change the version number. That's lame." Problem is, Tweetie 1 did not have any flaws or shortcomings in its implementation and was silky smooth and fast, at least for me. Tweetie 2 doesn't quite deliver that, which is why I'm left disappointed.
3) Tweetie 1 had 'wow' factor, Tweetie 2 doesn't.
4) The new icon is horrible (a matter of opinion, of course ;))
5) In deleting the first app from the store, Tweetie 1 has been end of life'd. Therefore, this version effectively stifles any upgrades to version 1, including any potential bug fixes.
6) The new version is underwhelming (did I say that already? :D)
Of course, one advantage of declaring Tweetie 2 as a whole new app is that it does give me the freedom to 'downgrade' back to Tweetie 1!!! I know which version of the app will be sitting on my iPhone's front page...
