At my college we're upgrading an Xserve G5 (RackMac3,1) to be a file server for some courses. Currently it has one sled with a 75GB drive. Obviously, this isn't enough.
I've tried some Googling on this matter and I'm hearing a ton of different stuff - custom firmware, size issues, etc. So, for anyone who knows, what's the actual lowdown on this machine. We want to put in three 2TB drives using three standard sleds, replaced with third-party drives. Is this possible?

Verify if the Seagate warranty does apply if you buy an OEM drive.

No experience...
Offer him a job in something he seems to have oodles of experience with.
Like a job as the office hemorrhoid (especially if you already fired the last one), but it seems he's already overemployed in that capacity in any case.
Sure it's a minimum wage job with no future, but even the office gopher needs to feel he isn't the low man on the totem pole.

Ok, I currently have a Ti 15" powerbook, but WILL SOON be buying a new 12" powerbook (as SOON as they update the line). I was going to purchase I thought a new 17" Apple LCD Display, but found out that the companies that were quoting the price had none in stock.
So... I have two options. One being purchasing an apple studio display on ebay, or just go out and purchase a new 19" LCD display.
My question for discussion would be: 1) would you consider buying a used LCD monitor off of ebay? 2) What new 19" LCD would you recommend in the $450 price range?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts! :)

I have computers running all the time, and this seems like a worthy cause.
My dad died from a brain tumor, and my sister recently underwent surgery to remove a large chunk of cancerous liver tissue [and is starting up chemo very soon:( ].
It might be akin to throwing splinters from the arms of deck chairs off the Titanic, but it makes me feel like I'm contributing, and the competitive nature of accumulating points is a geekycool bonus.

Your problem may have something to with your virtual Machine your using according to screenshots, which probably using up all your 3 GB installed RAM. Look as though your mac is just using 3 GB RAM instead of 6 GB RAM.

As stated: Syphon Filter is excellent, but other than that I would recommend the following...
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
(if you have the Japanese gps, I'm pretty sure you can unlock characters while you travel from WiFi hotspot to hotspot)
Field Commander(if you don't feel like buying/bringing a DS for Advance Wars)
Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters
Daxter
Family Guy is fun on the portable, but I don't know if it has the replay value you are looking for.
.....and of course ANY of the Grand Theft Auto's have plenty of challenges to keep you gaming for a while.
Cheers and have fun.
If you want classics: Mega Man, Gradius, Street Fighter, Metal Slug, etc.

The new Final Cut Pro X will take full advantage of all cores and as much RAM as you can throw at it.
Its fully optimized for OpenCL, Grand Central Dispatch, and is native 64-bit. Pair a 12-core with 64 GB of RAM and a wicked OpenCL-compatible graphics card and you'll have a monster FCP machine.

Springboard is having a huge party. I say we go there. Then paint the town Red
Meh, my experiences at Springboard haven't been amazing, the people aren't always incredibly friendly. I think I'm going to Ardmore.

I highly doubt Steve will announce another iMac at WWDC.
I'm sure he's talking about Lion announcements at WWDC, most importantly the release date and price.
Anyway, $50 is worth waiting a month or two for me. But then again, I'm in no rush.
