I perused it a bit, and the screen shots did throw me in for a bit of a loop. I wasn't sure what to look out for. Perhaps Spotlight-like dimming only the relevant information and the removal of extraneous items like signatures, could help make it easier for someone to digest.
The screen shots could be saved as .GIFs instead of JPEGs for more space savings. What's the Wiki etiquette on other users updating an original Guider's screenshots?
I'm a newb at this, but something like this might be helpful. (#2.)

i was using my iBook (800, 32vram, 128mb ram-long story, don't ask...i really want 640mb but i can't put in any RAM) with OS X 10.2.6 on it when i opened up iChat AV and realized that i couldn't do audio chats. So i wondered what the ******* was going on and took a peek in System Preferences and found out that the iBook thought that there was no sound input or output device. That's weird...because earlier today with the same computer i was chatting with someone using the built in mic and listening to Evanescence using the speakers. Can anyone help?

I've always heard the 6pin variant referred to as FW600 while FW400 was reserved only for the mini 4pin which doesn't have power. I realize it may not be technically correct but it's always allowed easier differentiation between the two connectors.
I've always heard of the 4-pin being referred to as iLink on Sony devices or mini firewire everywhere else.
I thought FW400 and 800 refer to the speed, so 600 makes no sense to me at all.

Would like to join you guys.
However, I have a meeting this evening and probably won't be able to make it down there in time.
One favor, can you check out the supply of iPod Touches -- specifically if they have the 16GB model in stock. TIA.

Paragon NTFS (http://www.paragon-software.com/home/ntfs-mac/) is a program you can use to natively read and write to NTFS formatted drives with Mac OSX. I use it for a recent external drive I bought and it works great.
However, you need to figure out what your ultimate goal is for your files. Do you want to migrate everything over to a Mac file system or do you need to be able to go back and forth between OSX and Windows with your data? If you are not going to be using Windows anymore then I would back up your data, reformat your drive to a Mac OS read/write format and they put your files back on the newly fomatted drive. If you need to access your data on both Mac and PC then I would use the Paragon NTFS software that I've suggested.

As a former PC builder, I always used Zalman case and CPU fans, that said, we are talking about laptop coolers, of the 3 presented here, I like your choice the best:cool:

Yeah, that's my basic feeling too. It seems to work fine. Actually, because it works, I'm really not sure how long ago this started. I just glanced at the Dock the other day and was surprised not to see the little black arrow under the Mac face. Now I'm problem-solving it just for an excuse to learn more about the workings of OS X.

Hi,
Bonus points normally appear straight away. However, you'll need to complete 10 units with at least an 80% success rate before you will start receiving them. (those first 10 units won't ever receive a bonus)
Anyway, congratulations on your first unit. The bonus points will soon start rolling in!

Thanks, that is the method I have been using. It just seems a bit inelegant!
I tend to agree. It is a bit of a pain.
A faster way is to use multiquote, then erase the first /quote, and paste (or retype it) after the second /quote.
Ta-dah!

Or cutting and pasting the second quote= to the start of the reply ...

reebzor: Given that I can't have wiring running around to the speakers (that need to be on opposite ends of the room), unfortunately this won't work.
waw74: It sounds like airplay speakers would be the best bet for ease of setup (in theory). The ihome option looks really nice - what a bummer they aren't available yet. Looks like the only AirPlay speaker available now is the Zeppelin Air ($600 apiece, so $1200 for a pair...wow). I'm a bit confused why it has a dock though, since it seems the reason for buying one would be to use airplay, but maybe I am missing the point.
Sounds like Airport Express would be the least expensive option. I didn't know I can make an Express a "base" without having internet access. So to make sure i understand ... I would buy 2 Airport Expresses. I would connect my MBP to one AirPort Express (no internet connection needed), and then have the AirPort Express create a wireless network, which I could then connect the second AirPort Express to using my MBP. The just plug speakers in the Expresses on opposite sides of the room, and I'll be good to go, correct?
Thanks-

Actually, it would be, "I stills gots me nine mores," because 3 others are also estranged.
I also think he refuses to acknowledge that the "estranged" exist, if I remember the Louis Theroux documentary correctly.

I wonder if you shouldn't modify the letter "a" so that it is more like "a" rather than "a". Otherwise, the style of the logotype almost makes it look like a sloppily written "u".
