power support makes by far the best dry install protectors out there. I too don't like wet install kits, and all other dry installs besides power support are less sturdy...often having tears in the protector before you even install it

Agreed! These apps are ineffective in removing all files/folders related to a deleted app. The only effective method for complete app removal is manual deletion:
Best way to FULLY DELETE a program (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=11171082&postcount=16)
Learn something every day. And here I thought the finder sucked. I've been using PathFinder because I could never find the system files. Thanks for the tip!

maybe you don't need to decide right now whether it will be more than a hobby.
if you love it, then keep working at it! enter competitions, share your photos with friends, and have a gallery exhibit when you're ready. ultimately, if/when you are ready to be professional, it will be clear. but don't limit yourself with labels for now- just keep taking pictures, keep experimenting, and be open to possibility.

photography is his passion, and his job is completely unrelated. it's been really cool to watch his progress.
keep up the passion:)

I don't know what I'll do--wait for the video stream, or watch the text feed feed. I do miss the days of the live stream, when you were forced to let the suspense mount in real-time. But trying to recreate that suspense during the dry iTunes-market-share-pie-chart extravaganza just may force me to hit the FF button. And muck it up somehow.
Besides, it's not the same when it's live, and you know you are finding out at the same time as everybody else.

Perhaps Lion will cost relatively little, such as the Snow Leopard upgrade.
Possible, but highly unlikely. Apple did this before with 10.1 for 10.0 owners (Since 10.1 was what 10.0 shouldve been, and 10.6 is what ideally 10.5 shouldve been) - Id expect it going back to $129, since its a full release instead of an improved Snow Leopard.

Thanks, vniow! It does sound like I'd be able to swing a PC card and a wireless router for a few hundred bucks extra.
Just curious: does the built-in AirPort card automatically disable itself or something when you plug in one of these third-party cards?

Really depends on what kind of a graphics freak you are. My kids are playing on HD2600 iMacs and are still enjoying the experience. I think you should be fine if you are happy with running a game at medium detail in 2 years time. Most will still probably run on high with some tweaking.

you had my curious about the answer there to that,
I found this on google:
http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2025553&tstart=60
Sounds like you have system 6
and you need an 800k boot floppy
that shift key command only worked on system 7 onwards

i know someone who just purchased a dual ghz box with 2 GB of ram. The extra .25 mhz isn't worth it becuase it is bottlenecked anyways by it's slow-assed system bus. The ram on the otherhand, is great for the after affects, FCP and photoshop work hes doing.

"Handsfree"
In all seriousness though, I could see myself buying something a bit similar to this if it were dirt cheap and had the option of a kind of blackout cloth around it. Not for what you might imagine although I would use it in bed. The girlfriend goes to bed hours before I do. I often stay up much later or I might listen to an audiobook and sometimes I like to watch tv shows. It'd be nicer being able to do that in the bedroom. She hates any form of lights in the bedroom so it would need to be able to black out the rest of the world. I don't care how stupid I look if its in the dark after all.

So I've been thinking
Xcode now requires Snow Leopard - when Lion comes out is it likely I'll need Lion to continue developing or should I be good with Snow Leopard? I only ask as my current development machine is a Core Duo (read - not good enough for Lion) and if I'm going to need to update I'll need to plan ahead.
Whilst I realise nobody 'knows' at the minute, does anyone know when XCode required Snow Leopard from? Was it from Snow Leopard's release, or simply when Xcode 4 came into existance?

Thanks for the reply. Right now i've got the plastic clips and crappy thermal paste from best buy in the mac mini. It gets the job done, but I'm thinking about redoing the thermal paste with better stuff and adding nylon screws, that should help keep temps down... and add a little life to the already ancient mac mini.
With the plastic clips, the springs were required to maintain pressure between the heatsink and the CPU. You don't need the springs if you're using screws and nuts. I used nylon screws and nylon lock nuts. I see temps a few degrees lower than yours while encoding. Remember not to use too much thermal paste.
